You’ve got to try this delicious Seasoned Fried Bake recipe! You won’t regret it. That’s guaranteed! The seasonings are what make this fried bake so understandingly tasty!

Ingredients

  • 1/12 cups all purpose flour plus more (just in case it’s needed)
  • 1 tablespoon flax chia blend
  • 2 tablespoons oats soaked
  • 1/2 – teaspoon yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 twigs green onion chopped
  • 1 large broad leaf thyme, diced
  • 1 large chado beni leaf, diced
  • 1/2 medium oninon freshly grated
  • 3 medium sized garlic cloves, grated
  • fresh basil, diced
  • a few small leaf basil
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon oil or margine
  • oil for frying

Instructions

  • in a large bowl, add warm water, yeast, baking powder, salt and sugar. give a quick whisk.
  • next add in soaked oats, flax chia blend and seasonings. mix well. add in flour a little at a time until a smooth sticky dough is formed. cut into smaller pieces.
  • allow to rest in a warm space in your kitchen to proof until doubled in size.
  • place some oil in large skillet and allow to heat up. be sure to keep it at medium high and keep on eye out for if it starts to get too hot. simply lower the heat.
  • form dough in to circular shapes and fry until gold brown.
  • serve hot with any side of choice.
  • enjoy!

Ingredients

For the coconut bake

2 cups all purpose flour

2 tablespoons flax chia blend mix (optional)

1 1/2 tablespoons margine

1/2 cup coconut milk

1 tablespoon sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 tablespoon baking powder

1 tablespoon oil-

For the smoked herring filling

  • 1 lb smoked herring
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup peppers diced (2 sweet pepper and 2 pimento peppers)
  • 4 cloves of garlic diced
  • green onion chopped
  • chado beno diced
  • tomatoes diced (optional)
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 14 teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions

  • preheat oven to 350 degrees f
  • in a mixing bowl, add all the dry ingredients and butter. mix until well combined. next add in coconut milk a little at a time. mix until a dough is formed. knead for 8-10 minutes. allow to rest for about 11/2 – 2 hours.
  • while dough is resting, wash smoked herring and bowl for 10 minutes.
  • cut up seasonings. next in a sauce pan add oil and chopped seasonings. mix until combined and allow it to sautee for a couple of minutes. next add in smoked herrings and any additional seasonings and mix well. allow to sautee for a couple more minutes. remove from heat once done.
  • once dough has rested, place on a lightly floured countertop and knead lightly. next cut into four equal parts and roll into small circles. add some of the filling in the middle and pinch the sides together tightly to keep any from spilling. gently form into small dics and allow to rest for a further 30 minutes
  • place in preheated oven and bake until golden brown (about 30-35 minutes or more depending on the oven used)
  • remove from oven and allow to cool
  • enjoy!

Who don’t like a good fried bake. This Corn Meal Fried Bake is perfect to try if you are one that don’t like a plain fried bake.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup corn meal/flour (more or less can be added depending on preference)
  • additional flour just in case there is a need to add more
  • 3/4 cups warm water
  • 1/2 -3/4 teaspoon yeast
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons sugar

Instructions

  • in a large bowl, add all ingredients with the exception of the water. mix until combined. next add in water and knead until a smooth dough is formed. cut into desired size and form into smooth balls
  • cover with a regular towel or a wet paper towel and allow to sit in warm place to double in size. next, to a skillet, add oil and allow to heat up. once the oil is hot enough, form dough into round circles and add gently to avoid spillage of hot oil. cook until nice and golden brown. remove from heat and serve hot with any side of choice
  • enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 6 cups spinach (washed and cleaned)
  • 6 cups boiling hot water
  • 11/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 cup room temperature water or more as needed
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil (or any other oil) or melted butter

Instructions

  • in a heat proof bowl, add spinach and pour the boiling water all over and allow to sit on counter top for roughly 5 minutes. drain out water and set aside.
  • in a food processor, add flour, salt and oil. mix until combined. next add in spinach and pulse until incorporated into the flour mixture. slowly add water as needed and pulse until a smooth slightly sticky dough is formed.
  • place dough on lightly floured counter top. knead briefly into a smooth ball. over with bowl and allow to sit for 20 minutes
  • cut into four even balls and small balls (8) or desired cuts (larger or smaller). form into thin circles and place on a preheated tawah and cook on each side for 30 each.
  • once finished, serve with fillings of choice
