Who don’t like a good fried bake. This Corn Meal Fried Bake is perfect to try if you are one that don’t like a plain fried bake.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup corn meal/flour (more or less can be added depending on preference)
- additional flour just in case there is a need to add more
- 3/4 cups warm water
- 1/2 -3/4 teaspoon yeast
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons sugar
Instructions
- in a large bowl, add all ingredients with the exception of the water. mix until combined. next add in water and knead until a smooth dough is formed. cut into desired size and form into smooth balls
- cover with a regular towel or a wet paper towel and allow to sit in warm place to double in size. next, to a skillet, add oil and allow to heat up. once the oil is hot enough, form dough into round circles and add gently to avoid spillage of hot oil. cook until nice and golden brown. remove from heat and serve hot with any side of choice
