Ingredients

  • 1 lb green pigeon peas
  • 1 ham bone
  • meat of choice
  • dumplings
  • ground provisions (any of choice such as yam, green fig, dasheen etc)
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • seaonings

Instructions

  • in a large pot, place peas and ham bone to boil. (about 30 minutes)
  • next add in meat of choice and allow to half cook. add in coconut milk and provisions. allow to come to a boil
  • make dumplings while mixture is coming to a boil. add dumplings and seasonings. gently stir and allow to boil. be sure to check regularly for flavour and seasonings as well as any additional water to be added.
  • once cooked, remove from heat and serve hot with avocadoes to the side (optional)
  • enjoy!
