Ingredients
- 11/2 cups all purpose flour
- 6 tablespoons cold margarine or butter
- 2 tablespoon sugar (or more if desired)
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons sliced almonds or nut of choice (optional)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon lime juice
- 2 tablespoons raisins
- 2 tablespoons dried cranberry
- 2 tablespoons dried blueberry
- 2 tablespoons cherry
Instructions
- preheat oven to 375 degrees f
- in a large bowl, add flour and cut in butter or margarine using a pastry cutter or your finger tips
- next add in spices, sugars, cranberry, blueberry, raisins, cherry, almonds, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. mix until combined. next add in buttermilk and mix. do not over mix
- place on a lightly floured countertop and gently fold a couple times and form into a circle. place on baking sheet or tawah. cut into rectangular shapes and place in preheated oven
- allow to bake for about 30-35 minutes or until golden brown
- remove from oven allow to cool before glazing
- best served fresh
