Grenadian Custard Snow Ice is the perfect frozen snack which is usually consumed on a hot summer day in the Caribbean. Grenadian Custard Snow Ice is usually made with ingredients found right in your cupboard. Try it.

Ingredients

  • 1 pack custard powder
  • 6-7 cups of water
  • 2 tins condensed milk
  • 2 bay leaves
  • cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • a pinch of salt
  • 3/4 cup very cold water
  • plastic bags for snow ice

Instructions

  • in a large skillet add water and spices along with salt and allow to boil.
  • in the meantime, add custard powder to a bowl and add the very cold water. mix until a smooth textured paste (a bit runny) is formed. set aside until ready for use
  • once the water is boiling, set heat to low. slowly add the custard mixture to the hot water, mixing immediately to avoid any lumps. allow to cook (7-8 minutes)
  • remove from heat and add in sweetener. pour strain mixture into a large bowl and allow to come to room temperature before bagging and placing in freezer.
  • snow ice should be set at least 6 hours before enjoying or overnight is best.
  • enjoy!
