- 1 pastry puff dough (can be store bought or home made)
- 1/2 pound lean minced beef (less fat, less juices flowing through the dough)
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 heaping tablespoons green seasoning
- 1 teaspoon dry basil and parsley
- 1 medium onion diced
- 3-4 garlic gloves minced
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (black pepper can be used as well)
- 3 tablespoons corn flour or bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup cheese (more can be added depending on your taste)
- 1 egg plus 1 more for egg wash with 1 teaspoon tumeric for bright colour
- paste for extra flavour for the beef
Instructions
- preheat oven to 375 degrees F
- if puff pastry is frozen, remove and place on counter about 1-2 hours before using
- in a large bowl, place room temperature minced beef, egg, seasonings, salt, cheese and corn flour. mix well until a ball is formed
- place unto plastic wrap. form into a rectangular log and place in freezer for 1 hour
- place pastry dough unto floured counter top and roll out to 12 inches in length (a rectangular shape). once meat is removed from freezer, brush paste all over it and place onto dough. fold in and seal edges, cutting off excessive dough.
- next place in freezer for another 15-20 minutes. brush with egg wash and place in oven and bake between 40 minutes to 1 hour depending on the oven used
- once baked, remove from oven and all to cool completely before cutting and serve
